Project Advice

HSF is committed to providing property owners with resources and advice regarding their individual preservation projects.

Whether or not your property lies within a historic district, we encourage you to explore the pages and links in this section for preservation tips and general information.

Getting Started

getting-started If you are preserving a property within a historic district, the HSF Preservation Guide is a must-read for anyone in the early stages of a project. And be sure to explore the Historic District Projects FAQs information regarding specific requirements set out by the City of Staunton, and the role of Staunton’s Historic Preservation Commission.

We further encourage property owners to join HSF in order to share preservation stories and advice with other Staunton residents who may also be working on similar projects.

Additionally, HSF’s monthly Brown Bag Preservation Talks and Tours are a great opportunity to learn more about preservation issues, techniques and products. And finally, we invite project owners to visit the HSF offices to conduct building research or request information.  Here is a handy guide for you to begin your property research.

Please check this site often as we continue to expand our online library of how-to help. In the meantime, feel free to contact our office for more information or to schedule an appointment.
